He draws on a nearly 30-year career working with thousands of CEOs in addressing their most pressing issues on employee engagement, creating a culture of commitment and accountability, and improving the emotional well-being of organizations.
Chalmers is a certified personal and executive coach, veteran seminar leader, trainer, and author. He has advised, coached, and designed leadership training for CEOs and leaders of both small and large organizations. These include Fortune 500 companies, federal and state government agencies, hospitals, medical practices, institutes of higher learning, and small businesses. In each case, he creates a learning environment so individuals can learn with and through each other. Chalmers works closely with senior leadership and their teams who are at a critical crossroads and are challenged to “lead differently” to stay relevant or improve the bottom line.
Leveraging his vast amount of experience of working with CEOs and their leadership teams, Chalmers wrote his best-selling book Language and the Pursuit of Happiness: A New Foundation for Designing Your Life, Your Relationships and Your Results and co-authored Language and the Pursuit of Leadership Excellence. Both hav been adopted as part of leadership coaching programs at Georgetown University, George Mason University, Harley Davidson University, NASA/Goddard Space Center’s Leadership Alchemy course, as well as Newfield Network’s Professional Coach Certification programs.
No stranger to the people side of organizational change, Chalmers began his consulting career with Andersen Consulting, now known as Accenture. There, he spent more than eight years in both the systems integration and change management divisions. He became one of the early practitioners in Andersen’s change management practice.
Chalmers, who lives in Naples, Florida, is a former chairman of a Visage CEO Peer Advisory Group. He has five years experience as board member with Collier County Medical Society Alliance, and is a former member of the board of examiners for the Tennessee Quality Excellence Award. In addition, he is a current board member at the Naples Pelican Bay Rotary Club.
Chalmers graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a BS in Engineering, and also earned an MBA from Louisiana State University. In his spare time, he runs half marathons, kayaks, and enjoys golfing and fishing. An avid lover of New Orleans, he religiously attends Jazz Fest and Mardi Gras. And in the spirit of giving back, his wife and two daughters recently participated in a volunteer medical trip to rural Uganda.
